BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A 21-year-old man has been charged in the fatal shooting of a graduate student from Bangladesh who was killed inside a Bridgeport convenience store.
Police said that Courtney Burden, an escapee from a halfway house, was arrested Saturday and confessed to shooting University of Bridgeport student Moin Hassan during an attempted robbery Sept. 22. He was charged with murder and held on $1 million bond.
Hassan was shot in the abdomen and later died at a hospital. The 22-year-old Hassan had been in his first semester of a master's degree program in electrical engineering.
The Connecticut Post reports that police are still looking for an accomplice who was with Burden the night of the shooting.
It was not immediately clear if Burden has an attorney.
