Man attacks pregnant girlfriend with scissors

VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man was arrested after he attacked his pregnant girlfriend with scissors, police said.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance at 72 Park West Drive, shortly after 11:18 p.m. Friday.

Officers say that a suspect had assaulted his pregnant girlfriend by punching and kicking her, before he then attacked her with a pair of scissors.

The suspect, Lance Redd, 26, of Worcester, Mass., attempted to escape the scene by leaping from a second story window. A K-9 team tracked down Redd and he was taken into custody.

In his escape attempt, he broke a toe, and following treatment he was booked and processed at the Vernon Police Department.

Redd was charged with assault, breach of peace, resisting arrest, threatening and unlawful restraint.

His court date is set for today, Monday September 24th.
