LEDYARD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Ledyard man was arrested after breaking a restraining order and then attempting to harm himself Friday night.
Around 10 p.m., police responded to a home on Highland Drive for a report of a domestic violence related incident.
Upon arrival, police learned that the suspect had already fled the residence.
The suspect was found a short time later, inside his vehicle, in the parking lot of the Highland Lake on Shewville Rd.
When police approached the vehicle they saw that the man was hurting himself with an edged weapon. When the man refused to comply with officers commands, they used a Taser on him.
The man, Steven Deluca, 52, of 35 Highland Dr., Ledyard, was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries and released back to police.
Deluca was charged with violation of a restraining order, third-degree assault, interfering with an officer, threatening, and criminal trespass.
He is being held on $25,000 bond.
