Berlin, CT (WTNH) - A man was charged with a long list of assault and drug charges earlier this week, police said.

According to Berlin Police, on July 7, they went to Best Western Motel, 2253 Berlin Turnpike for a reported disturbance.

Upon arriving, police could hear the disturbance from outside the door of the room and then convinced the suspect to release a female victim, identified as Anjelina Melillo, 21, of Wallingford.

Melillo was taken to Hartford Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She has since recovered from her injuries.

New Britain Police SWAT assisted Berlin Police at the motel and after a 5-hour standoff, forced the suspect out of the room and took him into custody.

The suspect was later identified as Isaiah Boucher, 31, of 421 East Main Street, Waterbury. Police found that Boucher was armed with multiple knives and a taser.

Boucher was on parole with an active remand to custody order for parole violation at the time of the incident. He was arrested and turned over to the Deparment of Corrections.

Yesterday, Sept. 29, Boucher was brought to New Britain Superior Court and charged with the following: criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, first-degree strangulation, second-degree breach of peace, fourth-degree larceny, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, criminal possession of an electronic defense weapon by a convicted felon, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and other related drug charges.

Boucher was arraigned and is being held on a $750,000 court set bond.
