WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A West Haven man was arrested after police say he bit a child on the shoulder as a form of discipline.
Police say on August 20, Brian Keil, 25, was watching his girlfriend's two children, who are 5 and 8-years-old, when the kids started to fight over a toy. Police say during the fight, the younger of the pair bit the older sibling, and then Keil bit the 5-year-old.
When the father of the 5-year-old showed up at the house to pick up his child and heard what happened he brought the child to the West Haven Police Department to show them the bite mark and file a report.
Police got a photo of the bite mark. News 8 showed it to some West Haven residents.
"See that's a picture of the bite," said News 8's Ali Reed.
"Why would he bite a child," questioned April Gore. "He needs to be taught a lesson, you don't do that to a child, that's sickening."
"He should be taken and he should be bit," said Tina Boone. "No one should do that to a child."
"It was a 5-year-old child that suffered a bite wound at the hands of an adult," said Sgt. David Tammaro, West Haven PD, "so it was taken seriously and the person was arrested for it."
The suspect has been charged with risk of injury to a child.
"That's it," said Gore. "Oh, he should be locked up for that, that's wrong. He shouldn't do that."
