NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH)-- A man was arrested for home invasion on Sunday, after forcing his way into a woman's apartment in New London.
Police received a 911 call from a female resident at 49 Garfield Avenue, reporting an unknown man in her first floor apartment.
Police say Hector Ortega, 30, knocked on the victim's door, then forced his way inside after she answered it. He was wearing a hat pulled over his face and brandishing a piece of metal rebar.
There was a struggle between one of the residents and Ortega. The victim suffered minor injuries during the incident.
Ortega was arrested when officers observed him walking from the apartment. He was charged with home invasion, burglary, assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief.
He is being held on $100,000 bond and will be arraigned Tuesday.
