Man faces sentencing for painkiller charge

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A Wallingford man is facing sentencing after he was convicted of a federal charge involving the painkiller oxycodone.

Jonathan Cosgrove is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in New Haven. He was found guilty by a jury in March of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute oxycodone.

Prosecutors say between August and November 2010, Cosgrove conspired with two other men to pass 18 fraudulent prescriptions, each for 180 oxycodone pills, at a Walgreens in North Haven.

Cosgrove's attorney, Jonathan J. Einhorn, said Cosgrove became addicted to the painkiller after suffering a back injury and the prescriptions were used to support his habit.
