Man flees from fatal crash, arrest made

WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police made an arrest in connection to a fatal accident that happened in September.

Rafael Quiroz, 22, of 55 Ely Circle was arrested on several charges.

On Sept. 7, around 1:00 a.m. police received a report of a crash on Rt. 159. Witnesses reported thee males fleeing from the car after the crash.

Officers responded and found one car involved with a victim, Christopher Torres in the back seat.

Officers attempted to resuscitate Torres but he was transported to Hartford Hospital and died.

Following an investigation, officials identified the person who was driving the car at the time of the crash.

Quiroz was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, evasion of responsibility in operation of a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to have insurance, operating a motor vehicle while license is suspended, improper use of a marker plate and speeding.

Bond was set at $10,000 and a court date was set for Dec. 10.
