GREENWICH, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man was caught burglarizing a home and when police arrived, he broke a window in an attempt to flee the scene.
Police received a report of a residential burglary alarm shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday at Shelter Drive.
When police arrived on scene, police saw that a rear door to the residence had been forced open and a male subject was observed inside.
Police ordered Mark Johnson, 19, to stop at gunpoint, but Johnson attempted to flee the scene. In his efforts, be broke through a window in the living room and tried to escape.
Outside, Johnson was wrestled to the ground and subdued by police. He was arrested on charges of burglary, criminal mischief, larceny and interfering with an officer.
Numerous jewelry items and cash was recovered from Johnson's person.
The house next door was also determined to be burglarized by Johnson. No other suspects were identified.
Johnson is being held on a $50,000 bond.
