Man shot and killed in Norwalk

Norwalk, Conn. (WTNH) - A 20-year-old man was shot and killed in Norwalk Friday.

Just before 6 p.m., police received reports of shots fired in the area of Avalon Gates Apartments, located at 26 Belden Ave.

Upon arrival, officers located a man shot outside the building on a rear sidewalk. Medical aid was provided and the victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have identified the victim as 20-year-old Joseph Bateman, of Norwalk.

Police are pursuing several leads in the case.
