BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CT Post) -- A man was hospitalized with a wound to his side after he was shot inside Layla's Market on Fairfield Avenue Tuesday night, police and witnesses said.

The man's condition and identity were not immediately released by police. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

A witness -- who didn't want to be identified -- said the shooter entered the store and opened fire on the man, who was in the store visiting a friend. The witness said the friend of the victim is an employee at the market, located at 1437 Fairfield Ave., near Howard Avenue.
