HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A woman was attacked by her former boyfriend Sunday morning, police say.

Police said that the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. at 860 Maple Avenue.

Witnesses told police that the woman's former boyfriend kicked her in the head, stole her purse and repeatedly hit her with that purse. The man then fled the scene with the purse.

The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor head injuries.

Police had secured an arrest warrant for the suspect, but his name was not yet released.
