Police: Man used internet to solicit sex from teen

Guilford, Conn. (WTNH) - A New Haven man was arrested Wednesday after attempting to use the internet to persuade a teenage girl to meet him for sex.

Police were investigating 30-year-old Mark Swain, of 61 Burr St., New Haven, in January, at which time Swain was contacting whom he believed to be a 15-year-old girl online.

During the investigation, police discovered that Swain was planning on meeting the teen in Guilford Wednesday afternoon.

Police set up surveillance and arrested Swain when he arrived.

Swain was charged with second-degree attempted sexual assault, attempted risk of injury and impairing the morals of children, and enticing a minor.

According to police, the charges stem from a lengthy investigation in which Swain used the internet to entice the party to meet with him to have sex.

He is being held on $100,000 bond.
