WOODBRIDGE, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at a Citizens Bank in Woodbridge Tuesday morning.
The incident happened around 10 a.m., at the Citizens Bank, located at 194 Amity Rd.
Police said a lone male entered the bank displaying a handgun, vaulted over the tellers counter and began demanding money from the tellers.
The suspect proceeded to fill two bags with cash, vaulted back over the counter, and exited the bank. He was last seen walking south on Amity Road towards New Haven.
According to police, the money was carried away in two canvas-type bags, one green-colored and one teal blue colored, and contained a bank security dye pack that may have activated inside the bags as the suspect was fleeing.
The man is described as a dark-skinned man, with a large build, approximately 5'8"-6' tall. He was wearing a white-colored t-shirt bearing a "Sherwin Williams" paint logo on the front and back, white painters paints, green knee pads, a dark-colored baseball cap with a grey-colored brim, ad purple-colored mechanic style gloves. His head and face were covered with an orange-colored nylon stocking type material.
Anyone with information or who encounters anyone attempting to pass red dye stained money, is asked to contact the Woodbridge Police Department at 203-387-2512.
