WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Waterbury man was arrested after leaving his infant son in a car for seven hours while he gambled at a casino Wednesday.
Wednesday morning police responded to reports of an infant left alone in a car, in the Riverview Parking Garage at the Mohegan Sun Casino.
Ask a parent how protective they are of their child and they should give you the following answer.
"My niece and my son I'm always watching them, I just, they're everything," said Jeanette Mia-White, of Waterbury.
Police say 32-year-old Kyuyoun Lee, of 3 Gaybridge Rd., Waterbury, left his eight-month-old son in the car while he was inside the casino.
"It's a very serious charge, it's a very critical situation," said Lt. J. Paul Vance, State Police. "That's why our legislature put in these laws, enacted these laws, simply stated, hot weather, warm weather, this could be a deadly situation for any child to be left in a close compartment of a vehicle like this."
Lee was charged with risk of injury to a child and leaving a child unsupervised.
Some neighbors at his apartment complex are disgusted.
"Everything, I do everything for them. The thought that...it just bothers me. Find a baby sitter," White said.
"The casino has daycare," said News 8's Jamie Muro.
"That's the worst of it," White replied.
Lee's bond was set at $5,000.
Additionally, DCF was notified and called to assist in the investigation.
