MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH)-- A Manchester gas station was robbed by an armed man on Friday night.
Police say the suspect displayed a silver automatic handgun and demanded money from the clerk, at the Getty gas station at 176 Tolland Turnpike, around 9:20 PM.
The suspect then went behind the register and took an unknown quantity of Newport cigarettes.
Police describe the suspect as a light skin black male, who wore a red sweatshirt, black pants and green or blue gloves. He was also carrying a red and black gym type bag.
The suspect fled east on the Tolland Turnpike towards the Baymount Inn, to what may have been a waiting vehicle.
A witness told police a black vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus, was seen leaving the parking lot just after the robbery.
