(WTNH) - An Enfield man accused in the death of a Connecticut state trooper was held on a million dollar bond Friday.
Michael Pajak, 32, was arraigned in a Vermont Courtroom on a fugitive from justice charge.
Police picked up Pajak at a relative's home in the town of Waterville, Vermont. Police say Pajak's pickup truck went out of control on I-91 last week and slammed into Trooper First Class Kenneth Hall's cruiser. Hall was killed.
According to Vermont police, Pajak faces multiple felony charges in Connecticut including:
Vermont troopers arrested Pajak without incident. He was arraigned Vermont Superior Court in Burlington.
Attorney James Sulick told News 8 Friday Pajak was in Vermont visiting family because he anticipated being put behind bars for some time, and knew he would face a high bond. Sulick said he had assured police that Pajak would immediately turn himself as soon as any warrant was issued for his arrest
It was unclear exactly when Pajak would be brought back to Connecticut. He is expected to agree to extradition at a court appearance on Monday.
A funeral service was held this morning for Trooper Hall at the State Armory in Hartford. Thousands of family, friends and police officers from around the country were expected to attend the service.
