Milford, Conn. (WTNH) - Police in Milford have made a second arrest in a fatal stabbing case.
Philip Moncrease, 32, of Bridgeport, has been charged with the murder of 19-year old Ryan Simpson.
Police say a fight broke out at a house party on Woodland Drive early Sunday morning. Simpson was fatally stabbed; his 15-year old sibling suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Following the stabbing, Moncrease and a 17-year old girl from Waterbury fled the scene. Police spotted their car a short time later, but Moncrease refused to stop. Stop sticks and a K-9 were used to finally apprehend him and the girl.
Police say Moncrease discarded the knife allegedly used in the incident on the highway, but police were able to recover the evidence.
Police say the girl, "is accused of brandishing a long screwdriver and attempting to harm other people who were involved in the dispute." She has been charged with conspiracy to commit assault and reckless endangerment.
Moncrease was hospitalized from injuries sustained during the course of the police chase. He was released from the hospital Monday and was charged with murder, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, operating under suspension, engaging in pursuit, reckless operation, interfering with police, criminal attempt at assault on a police officer and possession of marijuana.
Moncrease was arraigned in Milford Superior Court Wednesday morning. He remains behind bars on one million dollars bond and is scheduled to return to court March 31st.
The unnamed 17-year-old girl was arrested the night of the stabbing. She was held on a $100,000 bond.
