NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A missing 14-year-old girl from Kentucky was found safe at a New Britain home Thursday.
Friday night police pulled up to the house on 300 Slater Road in New Britain, the same house they raided earlier looking for a 14-year-old girl from Kentucky.
Police there say she went missing from her school on Wednesday and was gone for 2 days.
"Officers went to the location and actually found the juvenile. She was placed in DCF custody until her parents can come to Connecticut to pick her up. As of right now we have made one arrest, a male who is a fugitive from justice. He is wanted by Kentucky," said Sgt. Jeanette Saccente of New Britain PD.
Arrested is 51-year-old David Hernandez after he allegedly drove down to Kentucky with his 15-year-old son and the boys mother. New Britain police say they are not exactly sure what happened, if the girl got into the car willingly or if she was kidnapped, but no one in her family knew where she was.
News 8 went to the Hernandez home where the girl was found looking for answers.
"Hi ma'am, I'm Bob Wilson," said News 8's Wilson.
"Oh, can you give me a minute," said the woman.
News 8's Wilson waited 10 minutes and tried to get their side of the story but she never came back to the door.
"Mrs. Hernandez," said News 8's Wilson while knocking.
Down in Kentucky police released a statement saying that they were looking for a van on the school property. A tan and brown 1985 through 1990 Chevrolet van with a metal tire rack and a ladder on the back with CT plates. It is unknown if the van led Police to the house but for now police are just glad the girl is in DCF custody.
"What kind of condition did you find her in," asked News 8's Wilson.
"She was happy, healthy. She wasn't not safe. She was found in good condition," said Sgt. Saccente.
"So it's not like she was held hostage or captive," asked News 8's Wilson.
"It doesn't appear to be that way," said Sgt. Saccente.
