DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — A New Britain man who was seeking a form of probation in the hit-and-run death of a Western Connecticut State University student has been charged with a new offense.
The News Times reports that Eugene Robinson has been charged with interfering with a police investigation of an accident in which the vehicle left the scene. He was charged just hours before a Superior Court judge allowed him to apply for the accelerated rehabilitation program for the accident that killed 19-year-old Dong Lin of Brookfield in November 2011.
Robinson's lawyer said he has not seen the police report, but the judge will have to address the arrest.
Police said Robinson was a passenger in a car that struck a house early Friday.
He was charged with evading responsibility in the November 2011 accident.
