New Haven man arrested for bank robbery

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A New Haven man was arrested for holding up a North Haven TD Bank and walking away with an undetermined amount of cash.

Police arrested 21-year-old Menelik Smith for the June 27 robbery on Washington Avenue.

Bank surveillance footage was used to identify Smith, who is also a suspect in an East Providence, Rhode Island bank robbery.

Smith was held on a $250,000 bond and will be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Monday morning.

He was charged with first degree robbery and fifth degree larceny.
