Bridgeport (AP) - A U.S. marshals task force arrested a minor league hockey player in Connecticut on sexual assault charges after a game in Bridgeport.

Robert Hughes, 21, a center for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League, was taken into custody after Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Adirondack Phantoms at the Arena at Harbor Yard.

Hughes, a Canadian citizen from Richmond Hill, Ontario, was arrested on a warrant out of Bethlehem, N.Y., on charges of first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree criminal sexual act.

Authorities declined to release details of the allegations.

Police say Hughes was held in lieu of $100,000 bail until New York authorities could pick him up.

Hughes' phone number was not available, and it wasn't clear if he has a lawyer.
