New Haven (AP) - A Connecticut judge has ruled that a Meriden man is competent to stand trial in the driveway death of his landlord.
The judge says the hospitalization of 40-year-old Wilfrid Leveille has helped him regain enough stability to be tried for manslaughter.
Leveille is facing manslaughter, first-degree assault and several other charges from the March death of his landlord outside their home on Broad Street.
Leveille has been held in lieu of $500,000 bail since his arrest on March 11.
Police arrested Leveille after they say he ran over 83-year-old Roland Bouchard. Police say Leveille drove his car in reverse, hitting Bouchard before continuing down the driveway and onto Broad Street, where he struck another car.
He's due back in New Haven Superior Court on July 9.
