New Haven (AP) - A Connecticut-based drug dealer who distributed large quantities of crack cocaine in Fairfield County and outfitted his crew with guns and body armor has been sentenced to more than 26 years in prison.
Isni Gjuraj, 28, formerly of Stamford, Norwalk and New Canaan, appeared in New Haven federal court on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty in November to drug, witness retaliation and robbery charges.
Authorities say Gjuraj hid drugs in stone walls outside a Stamford elementary school and in secret compartments in luxury cars. Federal agents also say Gjuraj paid a gunman to kill a witness, who was shot several times but survived.
Authorities identified 23 drug dealers during the investigation.
Gjuraj apologized for his actions during the sentencing.
