Stamford records first homicide of 2009

Stamford (AP) - Stamford police are seeking information on a fatal shooting, the city's first homicide of 2009.

The Stamford Advocate reported Friday that 22-year-old Denny Alcantara was shot twice in the torso just before 6 p.m. Wednesday night. He was pronounced dead at Stamford Hospital.

The newspaper reports that the Stamford resident was attacked while walking to a friend's house to watch the World Series.

Officers have not disclosed details of the circumstances or possible motive in the killing, and no arrests had been made as of Friday.
