New Haven (WTNH) - East Haven Police arrested three people after they attempted to use a stolen credit card on Oct. 15.

Sonya Benson, 19, Jayson Roman, 27, and Devon Groomes, 28, all from New Haven, were arrested after trying to use a stolen credit card at Eblen's clothing store on 682 Foxon Road.

Eblen's employees said that the three suspects tried to purchase over $800 worth of merchandise with the credit card along with identification that did not fit Benson's description, police say.

Employees called the police and gave a description of the suspects and vehicle.

Officers saw the vehicle traveling down Foxon Road and stopped it. All three of the suspects were in the vehicle and they were placed under arrest.

Police recovered several other items that had been stolen from other vehicles in Old Lyme in the car, including a laptop computer, iPods, GPS units, memory cards and around 30 gift cards to different places.

The vehicle that the three had been arrested in had been rented through Enterprise Rental. None of the suspects were on the rental agreement and none had permission to be in possession of the vehicle.

Roman, Benson and Groomes were charged with illegal use of a credit card, larceny and other related charges.

All three suspects were held on $25,000 bond. They are set to appear in court Oct. 16.
