Orange cop charged with sex assault

    Milford (WTNH) - Milford police have arrested an Orange police officer who they say posed as his twin brother and sexually assaulted a woman.

    Jared Rohrig, 25, is charged with criminal impersonation and first degree sexual assault.

    Police received information on July 20 from Milford Hospital staff that a woman had been sexually assaulted. The assault allegedly happened at Rohrig's home on Flax Mill Lane in Milford on July 19.

    The victim said that during the encounter, she realized she was not with the person she thought she was with and attempted to leave. At that point, Rohrig restrained her and continued the encounter against her will.

    He is being held on $50,000 bond and is set to appear in court Sept. 8.

    Rohrig has been on paid administrative leave since July 23.
