Milford (WTNH) - A man found shot multiple times in Milford has been tentatively identified as a 28-year-old New Haven man, police said Monday.

Police are also looking for a car the victim was driving.

Police were called to an area along Zion Hill Road near Wheeler Farm Road around 7:30 p.m. Officers found a man lying on the side of the road with multiple gunshot wounds to different areas of his body.

He had not been left there long, police said.

"At this time we are trying to locate a vehicle that this person was last seen operating and request anyone who sees this vehicle, call their local law enforcement agency immediately," Officer Vaughan Dumas, Milford Police Department, said in a statement Monday morning. "The vehicle has CT registration plates 797 XNT and is described as a 2000 Honda Accord 4 door color tan."

Police are waiting on the Medical Examiner's Office to officially identify the body and then they will notify family members before the victim's name is released.

The victim was wearing a two-toned brown shirt and jeans. He also has a Boston Red Sox hat on. He is approximately 5'7" tall and 165 pounds. He has exceptionally long fingernails on his left hand and is wearing square earrings with diamonds in both ears.

Milford Police ask anyone who might have information on what happened, or who has seen the car in question, to contact them at 203-878-6551.
