Shenkman's bond revoked in Niantic case

New London (WTNH) - A judge has revoked bail for Richard Shenkman, who is accused of torching his Niantic summer home back in 2007, because he violated the conditions of his release by having contact with his ex-wife during a police standoff in South Windsor two weeks ago.

Shenkman was released on $600,000 bond following his arrest on arson charges in 2007.

On July 7, 2009 Shenkman allegedly kidnapped his estranged wife, Nancy Tyler, at gunpoint and took her to their South Windsor home, holding her hostage for hours. Tyler managed to escape, but Shenkman remained in a standoff with police, setting that home on fire, before he finally surrendered.

Shenkman is being held on a $12.5 million bond in that case.
