Branford (WTNH) - The Branford Police department is investigating a homicide that happened on April 17 at a TA Travel Center.
The victim, Dale Anderson, was found dead in the trailer portion of a tractor trailer after he had been violently beaten and suffered several facial and skull fractures along with compound fractures to both arms.
Two days before he was found, Anderson had asked an Allied Van Lines truck driver if he needed a helper. The driver said he already had a helper, identified as Michael Chaves, 39, but told the victim he could sleep in the trailer portion of his tractor trailer with Chaves.
The next day, the trucker couldn't find either of the men. He assumed they found work and left the area with another trucker. The following day, the trucker found Anderson in his tractor trailer.
Investigators are searching for Michael Chaves and believe he may be in California. He is currently wanted by Dallas, Texas Police Department for violation of probation.
Chaves is a white male, 5'10", with a thin build and is last known to have short brown hair. He has no known address and whatever belongings he has he carries in a brown knapsack. Chaves reportedly has a father living in Washington.
Chaves will be featured on the July 11 episode of America's Most Wanted on the FOX network.
