Arrests made in fatal UConn stabbing

Storrs (WTNH) - A Bloomfield man has been charged with the murder of a UConn student athlete. John William Lomax III is one of three arrests police made today in the stabbing death of Jasper Howard.

In addition to the murder charge, Lomax was also charged with conspiracy to commit assault.

Hakim Muhammad, 20, of Bloomfield, has also been charged with conspiracy to committ assault.

20-year old Jasper Howard was killed by a single stab wound to the abdomen when a fight broke out outside a school dance earlier this month. Police say Jamal Todd of Hartford pulled a fire alarm inside the dance, sending about 300 people outside. That's when Jasper, and another UConn student, were stabbed. 

Brian Parker, a freshman who is also Howard's teammate on the football team, recovered from his injuries.

Todd has been charged with falsely reporting an incident and reckless endangerment. He has been released on bond and is due back in court on November 10.

According to Lomax's Facebook page, he is friends with Johnny Hood, a Bloomfield man that was arrested for breach of peace and interfering with an officer the day after the incident.

Howard was buried Monday in his hometown of Miami.

Police say the arrest warrants have been sealed.
