Newtown man charged with sexually abusing girl

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Federal authorities say a Newtown man has been charged with sexually abusing a girl and filming the abuse.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Thursday that 28-year-old Edward F. Wilson was charged with production of child pornography, receipt and distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

The indictment alleges Wilson sexually abused a girl of about four years old.

Authorities say Wilson also downloaded and traded via email hundreds of other images and videos of child pornography.

Wilson has been detained in state custody since his arrest in April for child pornography and other charges. Court records indicate he pleaded not guilty to those charges. Federal authorities say he was arrested in July on 22 additional state charges, including sexual assault.
