Cops: Mom shoots up in school bathroom

North Branford (WTNH) - Police say a North Branford mother dropped her child off at school and then shot up in the school bathroom.

The incident happened Friday morning at the Jerome Harrison Elementary School in North Branford.

Valerie Minicucci, 40, has been charged with possession of narcotics, possession on school grounds and possession of paraphernalia.

School personnel called police after Minicucci dropped off her child and didn't leave the building. They allegedly found her in one of the bathrooms injecting drugs into her foot with a hypodermic needle.

When police arrived, Minicucci was in her car. Following a search of the car, police found numerous hypodermic needles, cocaine and heroin. She was arrested and released on a promise to appear.

The Department of Children and Families has been notified.
