NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — A Norwalk bus driver has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled woman.
The Hour of Norwalk reports 30-year-old Wanto Polynice also received 35 years of probation in a sentence handed down Tuesday by Superior Court Judge Bruce Hudock.
Prosecutors say Polynice worked as a bus driver with the Greenwich-based nonprofit Abilis, which provides employment and residential support services for adults with developmental disabilities in Fairfield County.
He was arrested in March 2011, after police investigated a complaint that he had sex with the woman inside a group home.
Polynice was convicted of second-degree sexual assault, but acquitted of first-degree sexual assault last November after a two-week trial.
