NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — Jury selection begins this week in the case of a Norwich man charged in a 2006 fatal shooting of a 19-year-old.
The Norwich Bulletin reports Bruce Gathers' trial on murder and firearms charges will begin Tuesday in New London Superior Court.
Gathers is accused of shooting 19-year-old Sean Hill of Norwich as Hill fled from the home of an alleged drug dealer that Gathers and another man had gone to rob.
The second suspect, 28-year-old Gregory Smith, was convicted in 2008 of first-degree robbery.
Gathers was extradited in 2010 from New Jersey, where he had been serving time on unrelated robbery charges.
