NORWICH, Conn. (AP) — Two women and seven men charged in a prostitution sweep in Norwich will be making their first court appearances in the case.
The nine defendants are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Norwich Superior Court.
They were arrested on July 11 during an undercover police investigation of alleged prostitution in the Central Avenue area of the Greeneville section of the city.
Police accused the two women, 59-year-old Mary Gibbs of Norwich and 46-year-old Dawn Brenna of Waterford, of being prostitutes and the seven men of patronizing prostitutes. All are free on nonsurety bonds.
Six of the men are from Norwich and the other is from Groton.
