Officer arrested for allegedly injuring his wife

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A police officer has been arrested following allegations that he injured his wife during a domestic dispute.
Officials say that Matthew Butkiewicz, New Britain police officer, was charged with assault on Friday, due to the allegations his wife made.
It was reported that Butkiewicz injured his wife in an incident that is being considered a domestic dispute.
News 8 has also learned that Butkiewicz recently told his wife he wanted to get a divorce. In response, his wife had reportedly chased after him, which caused him to call police on Wednesday.
A full investigation is taking place.
