EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- An East Hartford police officer was arrested on a child porn charge Thursday.
Officials said 48-year-old Andrew W. Nielsen, of Windsor, was charged by federal criminal complaint with receipt of child pornography.
The complaint alleges that between November 2010 and April 2011, Nielsen purchased multiple DVDs containing child pornography from a foreign company and had them shipped to his home.
During a search of Nielsen's home, investigators found DVDs containing images and videos of child porn.
Nielsen was arrested at his home following the search Thursday.
He was released on bond under electric monitoring.
If convicted of the charge of receipt of child porn, Nielsen faces a minimum prison term of five years, a maximum term of 20 years, and a fine up to $250,000.
