Trumbull, Conn. (WTNH) - Two officers were injured in a scuffle after a woman reported the father of her children was threatening to kill her.

Police say Michael Elliot, a convicted felon, was arrested on Jan. 24 after threatening the mother of his children and violently fighting with police officers.

The woman called 911 at 11:43 a.m., saying Elliot had shoved her to the ground, and threatened to kill her.

A Trumbull police officer located Elliot on Daniels Farm Road near Park Street. Elliot lead the officer of a short chase before charging into the officer and punching him in the face.

An off duty Meriden Detective saw the attack and jumped in to help. The two said Elliott was violently fighting and punching at them.

A nearby motorist and two additional Trumbull officer's joined in to help restrain Elliot.

Two of the officers received injuries from the struggle,a facial injury and an injured finger. Elliott was not injured.

During the struggle, police say a pistol magazine fell from Elliott's coat pocket, but the officers were unable to find the pistol. Officers later found a .25 caliber handgun inside Elliot's home in Stratford.

Police say Elliott is a convicted felon and has prior domestic violence convictions, banning him from possessing a firearm.

Officers also learned that Elliott was wanted for allegedly assaulting the same woman on December 23, 2011. She reported that he punched her in the face while they were driving on Hawley Lane in Trumbull.

Elliott was held on a total of $95,000 bond.
