BROOKLYN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Over 1,000 bags of synthetic marijuana were seized during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Saturday, police said.
Just before 3 p.m. police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2002 Chrysler Voyager minivan with CT registration 217XPE.
During the traffic stop, the driver, 55-year-old Vipin Patel, consented to a search of the vehicle, police said. Police found approximately 21 lbs. of synthetic marijuana during the search.
According to police, the synthetic marijuana was individually packaged in 1,100 bags and was packaged for bulk sale.
The estimated street value of the synthetic marijuana was approximately $16,000, police said.
Patel, of 112 Brown Ave., Apt. 7, of Jewett City, was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with the intent to sell.
Patel was released on a $25,000 bond.
