BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Bristol man was arrested after fleeing the scene of an attempted burglary at a local convenience store, police said.
The incident happened at Chippens Hill convenience store, located at 912 Terryville Ave.
Police said an officer on routine patrol discovered a broken front window at the store. While checking around, the officer observed a vehicle parked in the back lot. When the officer attempted to make contact with the driver, the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed, west on Terryville Ave.
The vehicle was later located in the area of Divinity Street, but was unoccupied.
According to police, a male suspect was later located and took off running when police attempted to interview him.
Police said the suspect subsequently ran into a support wire attached to a utility pole, injuring himself in the process.
The suspect, 20-year-old Alexander Williams, of 816 Terryville Ave. was charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, and interfering with an officer.
He is being held on $50,000 bond.
