PD: Live-in boyfriend arrested for murder

EAST HAMPTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- An East Hampton man was arrested Monday and charged in the homicide of his former girlfriend.

Anthony L. Garofalo, 38, was arrested as the result of an investigation into the death of 30-year-old Jini Barnum, of East Hampton.

Police said Garofalo, who was Barnum's live-in boyfriend, reported her missing on July 29, 2012.

Barnum had a 6-week-old daughter at the time of her disappearance.

Barnum's remains were found buried in a shallow grave in Glastonbury on September 9, 2012.

Garofalo was charged with murder, first-degree strangulation, and tampering with physical evidence.

He was arraigned at Superior Court in Middletown. He was held on $1 million bond and his case was continued.
