HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Hamden man was arrested after allegedly robbing a local gas station at gunpoint Thursday night.
The robbery was committed around 9:15 p.m., at Gulf Service Station, located at 1624 Dixwell Ave.
After investigating, police determined that a lone suspect entered the gas station, then demanded money and cigarettes while pointing a firearm at the clerk.
The suspect, who threatened to kill the clerk, then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and several boxes of cigarettes, police said.
A short time later, an officer observed an individual on Millis St. who fit the suspect's description.
Police said the individual, who was later identified as 47-year-old Anthony Onofrio, then ran into a backyard, where he was arrested.
Onofrio, of 233 Goodrich St., Hamden, was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, and refusal to be fingerprinted.
Bond was set at $100,000.
Onofrio is scheduled to appear in court on January 30th.
