Police: man tried to escape custody

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) -- A South Windsor man was arrested while attempting to escape police custody Tuesday, police said.

According to police, 35-year-old Corey Ouimette, of 195 Scantic Meadow Rd., was arrested on several warrants Tuesday.

While being processed, Ouimette complained of chest pain and needed medical attention, police said. He was transported to Manchester Hospital by ambulance with an officer to guard him.

According to police, during the medical screening process Ouimette attempted to escape by shoving the officer and fleeing toward an exit door. However, the officer was able to subdue Ouimette with a taser.

Ouimette was charged with escape from custody, two counts of second-degree failure to appear, and violation of probation.

Ouimette was held on $82,500 bond.
