EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- An East Hartford officer has been arrested after an investigation revealed that he had used a police computer system to access personal information about his ex-girlfriend.
According to police, on January 17th, a criminal investigation began into the possibility that Officer Juma Jones may have inappropriately accessed the Connecticut Online Law Enforcement Communication Teleprocessing (COLLECT) computer system for personal use.
The information was uncovered after Jones was arrested by Hartford Police on January 11th during a domestic violence incident, police said.
As a result of the investigation, police determined that Jones used the COLLECT computer system while on duty to access personal information of his ex-girlfriend and her sister.
Jones was charged with three counts of third-degree computer crime.
He was released after posting a $75,000 bond.
Jones is scheduled to appear in Manchester Court on February 25th.
Jones is a nine-year veteran of the East Hartford Police Department. He is presently on administrative leave as a result of the domestic violence incident.
