MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Milford teen was arrested after hitting a teacher in the face and then proceeding to hit a responding officer Friday.
The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. at Westshore Middle School.
Police responded to the school after receiving a report that a teacher had been assaulted by a student who had since left the school.
Upon arrival, an officer located the 13-year-old student in a parking lot on Lenox Avenue.
Police said the teen became verbally abusive and took up a fighting stance, telling the officer he was going to take the officer's gun and shoot him with it. The teen then charged the officer, swinging his fists and striking the officer in the left temple.
During the struggle, the teen attempted to remove the firearm from the officer's duty holster, but was unsuccessful, police said.
The officer sustained minor injuries during the incident.
According to police, investigation revealed that the teen struck a teacher in the facial area after an incident involving the student's cell phone.
The teen was charged with assault on a police officer, interfering with police, third-degree assault, second-degree threatening, and second-degree breach of peace.
Police said the teen was taken to a local hospital for an emergency evaluation.
