SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) -- South Windsor police are asking for help in locating the suspects responsible for a handful of vehicle thefts and car burglaries.
South Windsor Police reported to the Amato Drive area on Monday morning at 2 a.m. for suspicious persons in the parking lot.
A gym bag containing an Ipad and men's Breitling watch was stolen out of a vehicle in the condominium parking lot Sunday night, police said.
The responding officers said they saw a red Honda sedan and white Honda sedan driving through a nearby complex and attempted to stop the cars.
Neither car stopped for the officer's lights and sirens and fled the area westbound on Pleasant Valley Road, police said. The white Honda was listed as a stolen car and officers stopped the pursuit when it became unsafe to continue.
Further investigation found that the suspects left a vehicle behind that had been stolen from a New Britain resident and the red Honda Accord that officers briefly pursued had just been stolen from an Amato Drive resident, police said.
Several other vehicles were entered and a purse the suspects stole was left behind in the New Britain resident's car.
This type of crime has been happening frequently because people tend to leave valuable items in their cars in plain view.
South Windsor police encourages everyone to remove valuable items from parked cars and to close all windows and lock all doors.
Anyone with information about these vehicle thefts and/or car burglaries is asked to contact South Windsor Police at (860) 644-2551 or via their confidential tip line at (860) 648-6226.
