BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- After jumping fences and running through back yards in Bridgeport a robbery suspect was apprehended.

The incident happened late Tuesday night in Wentfield Park, near Hanover and State streets.

Police responded to the robbery call with a shot fired and spoke to the victims, who told police an iPhone was stolen and that one of the robbers fired a shot into the air as he fled.

While searching the area, police spotted two men in hooded sweatshirts entering a tan car with a third man behind the wheel. When police turned the cruiser around, at Iranistan and Fairfield avenues, the driver ran a red light and sped off.

Police chased the car until its three occupants jumped out at State St. and Bassick Avenue and fled on foot.

One of the suspects, 24-year-old Miguel Rodriguez, of 56 Yale St., was arrested after being chased through back yards and over fences.

Meanwhile, another officer was able to chase down the driver, 21-year-old Edwin Santos, of 950 State St. Santos was also arrested after a brief struggle.

Rodriguez was charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy. Bond was set at $75,000.

Santos was charged with motor vehicle violations, interfering with police, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The third suspect remains at large.
