DANBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- Three men were arrested after a police found burglary tools and two loaded guns in their car during a traffic stop. Officers later charged them with three counts of conspiracy to commit home invasion.
On June 25, police pulled over a car on Route 7 near exit 11 in Danbury. When the car stopped, a passenger in the backseat ran out of the car and into the nearby woods.
The driver, Richard Acevedo, 29, and another passenger, Wayne Early, 26, were arrested after police found tools commonly used in burglaries and two loaded handguns inside the car.
Both were charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of burglar's tools, weapons in a motor vehicle. Acevedo also faces various motor vehicle charges.
The passenger who fled the scene was identified as 35-year-old Anthony Cruz. He was arrested on June 27 inside his home. He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of burglar's tools.
Acevedo and Early were out on bond when they were once again arrested on June 28. They face a bevy of charges that include three counts each of conspiracy to commit home invasion, first degree burglary, first degree robbery and unlawful restraint. They are being held on $350,000 bonds.
Police say Cruz will face similar charges.
