Update: Escaped prisoner Ryan Kaminski was captured on Main St. in Winsted Thursday afternoon.
TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Torrington police are asking the public for help in locating an escaped prisoner.
Ryan Kaminski, 29, was initially arrested on Wednesday night after officers found several items inside his car that had been reported stolen during car burglaries in Torrington and Winsted.
Kaminski was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of a marked police cruiser, but he was somehow able to escape from the car and get out of his handcuffs. He was last seen fleeing north on Winsted Road.
Kaminski is a white man, standing about 5'8" tall, and weighs 140 pounds. The Winsted resident was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and blue Dickie's type pants.
Police say he is a car mechanic by trade and has worked in Waterbury and Thomaston.
Torrington Police currently holds an escape from custody arrest warrant with a $100,000 court set bond.
Officials are asking the public's for assistance to locate Kaminski.
